SAVING A SEQUENCE

Hey,

Just got an MPC 500 a few days ago and i'm have some trouble with saving. Can anyone tell me how i save a sequence so that i can come back and work on it later.

Also, can anyone tell me why my MPC still loads up with sounds if i remove the flash card? I thought the 500 had no internal memory?

Please Help!

It has a small 5-6mb of internal flash storage. Not much for anything but possible favorite sounds.

You can setup the MPC 500 to not autoload anything, which will leave you with blank sequences/programs/no samples.

I'd suggest when you go to save, scroll from (default sample?) to entire memory... then tell it to save to a new folder. It's a good habit to get in to, and will save your mind later.

Can you tell me, does creating a programme just mean asigning sounds to pads with all the relative info on them?

A program by itself is empty. You can give it a name and such.

To 'program' the program, you assign samples to the different pads, set your amplitude/filter envelopes and such.

So... a program is a collection of samples

A track contains a program and a collection of midi notes/events

A sequence is a collection of tracks

A song is a collection of sequences played in a certain order.

I bought a new 2gb flash card and have formatted it but, the mpc does not recognise it. Neither does my computer when i connect via usb.

Any ideas mate?

A)Corrupted CF card possibly?

B)Could be not fully inserted into MPC causing failure of read- seems silly but happened to me once.

c) was it formatted on the MPC?

Yeah... definitely follow the instructions to format on the MPC.
