I just recieved my Midi to USB interface today in the mail, LAMPDOG showed me a chart on how to sync the MPC to the Pro Tools...I followed the chart word by word and tried to sync....I went to play the mpc and the MPC wouldnt start turned off machine and turned it back on, still wouldnt play in regular mode or sync up with pro tools...so then I held down the erase button to restore it becuase it wouldnt play or start, now the MPC wont sync, followed the directions again and now the MPC plays as if nothing was plugged into it like in regular mode...Does anyone know how to get the MP to sync up to Pro Tools? What am I doing wrong?

LAMPDOG showed me a chart on how to sync the MPC to the Pro Tools...
The "chart" was from akiapro, contact them and let them know it's incorrect.

you would think that knowledge is given on here....
Much knowledge is here.

you would think someone is asking a question because theyve exhausted all options, went online for help, came here, but only to find people conceited in their own knowledge.
You forgot the one where some people lazy people "claim" they've exhasuted all options but by the description of their troubleshooting steps and/or lack thereof, they haven't and spoonfeeding basics is not something most want to do. One of those "exhausted options" include the manual, details all the functions of the machine and there happens to be too many "unread" versions flying around the web.

you will get help here and there, but your best best is to just dig thru the threads and find your answers. there is always help outside of this forum, but there are some people that will help and some people that wont......good luck, bro.....stay up to date with peoples posts.
Very true, every word.

Conceit? No! It's that **** come here asking the same damn questions that have been ask over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and ....

...ahhhhh...

...over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over!!!

Not only that, but they ask the most simplest and basic questions that can be answered just by sitting down for a few hours, and you guessed it, reading the whole **** manual much quicker than making a post here and waiting for a response! How do I save? How do I quantize? How do I sync? How do I use Reason as a sound mod? How do I copy a sequence? How come my sounds cut of when I hit another pad? WTF??? How do I make a **** beat? It's like a broken record around here sometimes! Stick around long enough and you'll see!

Look how many different topics there are just on how to use Reason as a sound module alone. And this was literally a 10 second search:
search.php?keywords=mpc+reason+sound+module&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=titleonly&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

Another 10 second search. How to sync the MPC with Pro Tools:
search.php?keywords=mpc+pro+tools+sync&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=titleonly&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

Starting to catch the drift?

Did you actually sit and type all those "overs"?

I know, I know copy and paste, just funny when I saw it.

Instead of putting me down, it would be better to help find a solution...or if you dont have the answer you dont have to reply saying something ignorant and arrogant at the same time...You DJ Hellfire are a loser

Maybe it's the interface that is not acting right? Just guessing.

Maybe you have a setting in Ho-Tools somewhere that isn't right?

Me, I'd stroll through each manual and see what is what with each machine/software and go from there.

I don't have a 1k or Ho-Tools so I can't say much, I'll shut tha fk up now.

sometimes the problem lies between the chair and the mouse they say in computer related stuff. Could be the thing here to. Anyway, this should help you:

http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuse ... d=51305569

Scroll down beyond the videos, till you see the logo saying "Studizzy productions" there you find a "manual" for how to set up pro tools and mpcs. He also describes what you achieve from this way. Last year I changed my mpc 2kXl for a 2500, and also bought a pro tools system, digi 002. I had my first question on here about how to set this thing up, and as we are all creating on different systems, different workflows etc, this can be very frustrating to know what to do.There is no definite answer (only basics). For that you have tweakheadz homepage, where all necessary information about music production is to be found. There are also helpful videos on youtube, just stay clear of the expert village ones, which is a bunch of crap (real talk!!!).

Now, let the peacepipe come around, and lets all shut the **** up. We all started somewhere and know how frustrating things can get when we do not know the answers. And there is a jungle of answers out there, just use the machete to cut the crap out of your way.

Good luck

@ Skitzo

Why exactly do YOU need to sync Pro Tools with your MPC again?

If you're having such difficulty, there are other ways to get things done.

You should have posted this thread in another forum, the correct one.

At this rate the whole 2500 forum will be full of your general questions before long.

I have a MBox 2 Mini...maybe that could be the problem? I need to actually plug my midi into say a regular Mbox 2 with the Midi built in? Because Im using a generic Midi to USB cable...

Yeah, you need an interface with midi on it. The Midi to USB won't work right. Either get yourself an Mbox2 regular or a separate midi interface!

You do not need to synchronise anything to track your beats into Pro Tools, that nonsense is a popular MISCONCEPTION.

There are obviously situations where synchronising hardware and software is going to be hugely beneficial, but tracking into an MBox 2 Mini is not one of them. Tape recorder style will do just fine for you.

Besides, as Hellfire pointed out, you don't even have a MIDI interface.

And yes, I do know what Im talking about.
