for example peeps like king tubby would have quite messed up signal routings....wack a delay unit on one of your auxes and have the output go back into a new channel..set the feedback to zero but then use the aux on the delays return channel as your feedback control...start sweeping the eq's and you can get some crazy effects...combined with volume riding panning and further routing into say a phaser you can get some messed up stuff going which is completley controllable by you with out a midi lead or controller in sight....

watch your speakers mate, feedback loops can do wonders to tweaters....just keep the vol down or strap a limiter over the reurn channel...

The problem with song mode is that changes can only occur on the 1. While playing on the fly, you can bring in that snare on the 4.4.0... like ba dum bum.... bum da bum... bum bum ba dum CRACK!... you know? I just like the feel of being able to rock subtle, maybe half-a-bar change ups on the fly.... to accent certain parts of a verse, or cuts or whatever.....

But again, personal preference should be the deciding factor in how you lay down jawns.

ah but with song mode you can link loads of 1 bar seq to make a crazy breakdown (spesh if you change up the time sigs) and hit next sequence to segue straight into the breakdown...which is still editable via the mutes...

i used the track mutes for a while and i think i used songmode like twice, now i dump the tracks into cubase and arrange the drops on there..

Can you program Cubase SL/SX to read the MPC's Pads as Track mutes? That would be illl for tracking as well as when using the PC sequencer with the MPC sequencer.....

Lemme know if it's possible!

never really tried that.. i just record the loops into cubase like if my beat has 15 tracks but its a 4 bar loop i record that then copy and paste until i have enuff for 2 16s a hook, intro, outro and erase parts i dont want and basically do all the mutes on cubase around the vocals..

Thats what my crewmate does, but with Acid 4.0, I'll lace up a beat in the mpc, and then he'll have me individualy play each part for 4 bars (or however long the loop is).... snare, kick, hats, bassline, vibes, horns, whatever... all individually, and then beatmap each section on it's own track in acid. Then he'll loop each piece for however long, and do all the mutes in there. That way it's all tracked and ready for vocals and cuts.

Pretty obvious stuff, but still... might be useful to some.
