Askia's Feeback on Future MPCs (warning: very long post)

some of these requests are actually on jj os2xl for the mpc2500 like nondestrucitve chop, overlapping regions, realtime timestretch, and more - this goes to show that you dont need fancy shit to make it happen, you just need a team of designers/developers who really work with users to make something more usable....know what i mean?

thinking about it, i would like a 2500xl - a super 2500 that combines the best features of the 5000,4000,jjos, and some of those mentioned above. i think it would be a lower price point, with most of the features you would want and actually need.

also, i dont think making it an "all in one wonder box" is what we need. thats what openlabs,computers,etc. are for. lets make it the best mpc possible, that is, make it the best at what it is. the mpc is a sampler and sequecner. it isnt a daw. know what im sayin?

Note - 360 degree Q-link knobs and Q-link banks that are on my MPC request list has made it to products like the APC40 and MPK88.

Rotary encoders sure would be sexy...

this system is no where near as good as the 4k ect older mpc s.i cant be bothered with a machine that is decline ing.i mean just loading one sample from the hard drive and its like it has to think about it.bumbling around.it need to be like lightning man!!otherwise youl go senile just trying to get a beat together.come on akai,tighten this baby up.or the beat fang might bite you.......

You are correct. 3 or 4 of the 100 requests in this thread are in the JJ OS. If you read many of the threads in the forum, you will quickly learn that the team of designers/developers did actually work with users to improve the MPC 2500 and 5000. Its just impractical to add every single request/feature to a product that has a small market. The fact is..there is no similar product on the market that has a fraction of what is written here.

let me rephrase this.. did you get paid??? Well, when I read this, you're really into your knowledge, I assumed you'll get paid by posting this along the way???

just curious though..

when that 5000 xl is out Im gonna purchase it anyway, anyhow.
I like 5000 a lot, so why not the next one...

No. I don't get paid for writing what I believe would be an awesome product. Most of the things I have written in ths thread can be found in quite a few threads posted here over the years. I have posted very little in the forums over the past year. But its Namm time and I am hoping there will be some new products or improvements to existing products that will be worth talking about and/or investing in...that's all.

If I had some news on MPCs...I would be in the forum everyday talking about it

Sad to say that there is not one product released at Namm that excites me. I was hoping to see something from Akai and Roland that would make me want to spend my entire income tax refund check..but nothing.

But the news of another Akai Live controller had me taking a closer look at Live 8. So I am about to pick up a copy of that, an MPD 32, and also a portable Apogee interface.

I did take a look at the APC 40/20 but I don't think I would use many of the controls like the matrix buttons. The MPD has a better appeal to me. While the current controllers are ok, I would like to see a controller that is nearly identical to an MPC right down to the data wheel and robust transport controls. The MPC's data wheel is perfect for sample editing. The Fantom G's data wheel is even better. Now if Akai could work with Ableton to fully implement such a product with Live, it would make slicing samples and/or adding warp markers flawless like an MPC. I never get fatigued using an MPC...but using a mouse is a different story.

Yeah right,i hear you about the software being fatigue ing.If i do all production on software i assimulate to much infomation although if i limit use i get great results.thing is companys are becoming lazy and just gearing towards the computer.if there is a new mpc ill be shocked!!!btw i got a faderfox lv2 controller for ableton afew days ago.its really sweet and easy to set up.and v small.cheers
