OS Flash Rom Failure - Rom Code Invalid HELP

So I had a buddy upgrade my os to 1.7 from 1.4 and now I am locked out of my MPC. I get a screen that pops up that reads Flash Rom Failure and to update via os loader usb. But When I connect usb I drop the bin file into osloader and it gets to 29% and stops. I have no way of getting into my mpc or updating it. Is there any way I can get this to work.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. I am a longtime member to this forum but I forgot my user id and just made this new one. Thanks in advance.

If you can get it to respond to re-updating the OS either via USB or from CD-ROM
(as per the instructions on the Akai website),
then it could be a job for an Akai service centre

I have not tried the cd-rom yet. I will try that now. Question... could it be because I'm using a mac or would using a pc make any difference?

If this ever happens to anyone, just use a PC to load the new OS.

Don't use a mac its all funky with the mp.

How did you fix this problem, I'm hosed with an MPC that wont move past the Flash Rom Failure screen, and the OS loader is not working I keep getting error occurred.

False Alarm, Virtual Machines do NOT work well with the MPC 4000 OS Loader.
