With the mpc 2000 you can go into the step edit mode and choose where in the sequence you want to place a sound and place the sound by pressing the pad with the sound on it.

In the mpc 1000 it seems as if you have to press insert everytime???

is there a quicker way to do this without pressing insert, because just pressing the pad at that time does not work.

Thanks for any and all help...........

I don't know if it's the best way, but it's the way I do :

I insert a note once, choose the pad (why can't I just hit the desired pad here??) and adjust velocity etc, then copy this event, go to the next position I want to have this event and insert it there. if I want to have different settings for each event (eg different velocity for each note) I go through the events after and adjust them again.

it works fine and very quick for basic stuff like a kick on each quarter or other events with the same settings, but if you want to insert each time something completely different, this wouldn't be a good solution...

I don't know if there are better solutions, let's wait for further posts!

aaah, I remember there's still another way described in the manual for inserting events on periodic positions, but I haven't tried it so far...

You could always record a seperate track, quantize it, etc. Then merge it into the track you want everything in.
