mpd18 doublehitting issues

Hi i'm new to this forum, I know this is not an mpd forum, but I need some help. I just bought an mpd18. I tried it with reason 4 and sonar 8.5 and i'm getting some serious double hits. I'm running vista 32 bit version. Any suggestions?

adjust / check your pad sensitivity setting, see if you can find the sweet spot

Thanks buddy, but how do i do that? This thing doesn't have any adjustment and the manual is of no help.

In all honesty... it's probably not the fault of the MPD but it's you for the double hits. Try standing up and hit a pad. Hear the difference?

The connection of the MPD18 is straight forward. USB. I don't think standing makes a difference but I try it. Is this machine so sensitive that you need to apply a technique to hit it.
The problem occurs both with full level on and off. I spoke to the Akai tech and he told me that that's probably the way the drum machine pads are and what do you expect for $99.00. Well for a tech guy to tell me that, only goes to show that I bought a sorry piece of equipment. Thought Akai products were king, well guess the mpd18 is just an insignificant part of the fleet.
Oh well I'll just make do with it.

look on you tube. I remember one dude modifying one of his akai midi controllers cause he wasn't feelin the pads. Pretty simple fix. He added black electrical tape squares (could be a few layers) he claims to have achieved the sensitivity desired.....

thanks buddies for the advice. saw this video already. if i'm not mistaken his was not sensitive enough as oppose to mine being to sensitive. you guys have been of great help, thankyou. i'll just make do with it.

return it.........upgrade........or get a trigger fingger by m-audio if you dont want to exceed a C-note

i've heard of this mod
i got an MPD24 and when i buy it i got the same problem of double hits, but after a few days of use i can hit the pads without double hits (dont' know why)
i've not changed the pad sensitivity of the controller
now seems to work fine
don't know, some say that the pads got not enough sensibility (that increases with the tape squares mod)
many users says that the mpc2000 pads are better (and more sensibles)

but maybe the new pads got to be "runned in", don't know
