Watch out for cheap CF cards...

I got a few CF cards for Christmas from my brother. I told him to get the cheapest ones he could find thinking that the quality didn't matter much. I was wrong. He got me 2 512MB Smart Living Compact Flash cards. I saved some samples on one and when I tried to reload them half of the samples wouldn't load. Half of the samples that did load were corrupted. I tried to save something on the second card, and it took way longer than normal to save. I destroyed the first, and I'll probably do the same to the second... My point is this: It's better to spend a few extra bucks to get quality CF cards. The last thing you want is to lose all of your work over a few dollors... Peace.

oh man i totally agree, had the same thing happen to me about three years ago, i bought some really cheap cf's to go along with a few quality ones.. wrote a killer track on the mpc for hurricane katrina using nothing but sounds from natural disaster footage... alot of work put into shaping these sounds into musical pieces and when i completed the track.. i save to cf and went to bed thinking that i would dump it into my recorder in the morning to finish the piece.. when i awoke the next morning and tried to load the track up it said the file was corrupted.. gone forever. no bueno kids... you get what you pay for.. bottom line.

Also watch out for FAKE CF cards. They got me twice.

wow that sucks man.. im sorry it happened to you twice.

I just brought a 4GB ScanDisk Ultra CF cards for £35 and it works fine. I previously had a 2GB one (cost £30) and when i went to re up they had no 2GB... o well

ps i buy these from Jessops Camera shop
