Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

so havent been on the forums in a bit...well since yesterday. anyway i have two questions which might piss people off. i really did a search...different combinations of searches and they always seems too broad, i read my manual and no dice. you know those times when it just feels like you're banging your head against the wall...well its like that.

ok so i have mpc2kxl with a yamaha mm6. now how would i make those talk to each other? midi... as much as i read up on midi i get more and more confused. ive just heard that people control their synths through their mpcs and i really want to dive more into that, but everytime i try i only get little results....so if anyone wants to eleborate on midi with the mpc2kxl ill appreciate it greatly. lampdog - do your signature list of threads that i didnt (or was too blind to) see.

along with that this is a total newb question but how should sample from my synth?
synth>mixer>interface>mpc
or
synth>interface>mixer>mpc

or just synth straight to the mpc?

or should i even use the mixer?
its weird because i was sampling logic sounds straight from my computer, but have found that the actual sounds on my synth are pretty good however im getting a good amount of hiss now.

ok ive written too much!

thanks in advance!

yo mumkai!

so.. what do you want to do? you want to sample (record in your mpc) or connect them together with midi?
at first you should learn the difference between audio and midi.. (to say it easy: audio is "soundsignal" and midi is a "controlsignal")
if you want to sample sounds from your synth in your mpc i would do it like this:
synth - mixer (to use the eq´s etc.) - mpc
if you want to connect your synth with your mpc with midi you have to connect them with a midicable, choose the right midichannel and lets go! 8)

ive used my keyboard as a midi controller in logic, but i was wondering how i would control my synth using my mpc... i know theres alot of midi features on the mpc2kxl that i have yet to discover. i know the difference between midi (data) and audio (sound) just dont know how to figure out midi with my akai. ive scratched the surface with MTC but that pretty much it...

im doing the keyboard>mixer>mpc route, but still manage to get hissssss... i only asked about adding the interface because of the pre-amps in my interface are pretty good... but i still get a hiss so i guess that dont matter...

If you're using a mixer and interface.....connect both the mpc and keyboard to the mixer and then from the mixer into the interface.

You can route the midi out of the keyboard into the mpc and vice versa and then use the other mpc out to the interface or mixer in.

It really depends on how you want to use midi. And which you want to control.
