i got my mpc 3000 from usa, im in uk england and i didnt realize about the differences in the plug voltages. i put one of my own plugs in and the screen came on then just turned off straight away. i tried some other plugs but still nothing. my guess is that it is blown so does that mean it will never work?

i cant really send it to the states to get fixed as that would cost me to much money?

any feed back would be very much appreciated.

well i have found a topic on this and apparently there are 4 fuses which can be changed inside of the mpc, and someone was succsseful in doing so. but then someone later mentions the transformer and then i get confused,. is there anyone that knows of this problem and can help?

its very easy to change the fuce of the power supply on you mpc!
its like the fuces in your car, but their are made of glasse!
its very easy, open your mpc, an changed them!

i will have a look. do you know exactly where inside the mpc the fuse part is jus so i no what to look for, also im not to sure this will work because of the transformer thing i dont want to damage it even more if it could be fixed properly. is there anyone that has had this problem before that could maybe tell me how u did it coz i need to know for sure if it will work before im going to do it thanks

you will see them after you open your mpc!
its on the top left corner, 4 or 5 glass fuces~
its really very easy, you dont need tutorial to do that.

will this work for sure? also do u noanything about the transformer as i am in the uk and i here u need it? also what are the fuses needed for use in the uk?

wow, that is some sad news. Hopefully the fuzes prevented your mpc from getting fully destroyed. Europe has 220 volt power and in north america we only have 110 volts. If you are lucky enough that replacing the fuzes will fix the machine... then dont plug it in again because the same thing will happen again.

i have opened the mpc now and have located the fuses there are 3 fuses in a group and 1 on its own. is this the correct amount? also the fuse on its own is all black does that mean something bad? the 3 grouped ones are all clear

The "blackened" fuse is the PRIMARY mains power filter fuse.

If it has blown then there is a strong chance everything post this stage has been saved.

Here is a break down of fuse values, wiring layout and all to do with the power supply.

This information has been posted within this forum before.

Here it is again.

The transformer will be marked according to your MPC3000's intended territory mains voltage designation.

These markings should fall within range of that indicated on your MPC3000's rear panel.

[C][A]

[J]

[E][V][B][S]

Colour coding for SECONDARY SIDE ( stepped down, unregulated AC ) wiring connected between
the transformer and POWER SUPPLY BOARD - L4012B507B socket P801:

BLACK & WHITE - unregulated AC feed to POWER SUPPLY BOARD - L4012B507B socket P801 and 5 V rectification
and regulation circuits.

ORANGE & ORANGE - unregulated AC feed to POWER SUPPLY BOARD - L4012B507B socket P801 and 12 V
rectification and regulation circuits.

PURPLE - AGND.

Is fuse protected.

The fuse ratings are critical.

The fuse location is marked on the board as "F1".

3: POWER SUPPLY BOARD - L4012B507B

Resides on the secondary ( stepped down ) side of the mains transformer.

Is fuse protected.

The fuse ratings are critical.

The fuse locations are marked on this board as follows:

"F2"

[C][A] - 4A 125V

[J] - 4A 250V

[E][V][B][S] - T3.15A 250V

"F3"

[C][A] - 800MA 125V

[J] - 800MA 250V

[E][V][B][S] - T630MA 125V

"F4"

[C][A] - 800MA 125V

[J] - 800MA 250V

[E][V][B][S] - T630MA 125

Wire location W904 is the regulated power supply line output that supplies the MPC3000 circuit boards.

It connects at P1 on the main circuit board L4012A5010.

If you need to disconnect this line for any reason ( checking power supply output voltages is one I can think of ) then do it at the main circuit board end as this is where the socket is located.

PIN 1 = +5V
PIN 2 = GND
PIN 3 = -12V
PIN 4 = AGND
PIN 5 = +12V
PIN 6 = +5V

The power supply circuit is a fairly standard affair.

Unrectified, stepped down AC power is fed into Rectifiers D801 ( 5 V ) and D802 ( 12 V) and then into regulators IC801 ( 5 V )
and IC802/IC803 ( +12V/-12V ). Ancillary coupling, decoupling and smoothing capacitors are present also.

Once you have replaced any blown fuses per the above descriptions and before reconnecting your USA voltage MPC3000 to UK mains power...

Get yourself a LINEAR STEP DOWN POWER TRANSFORMER in order to run a 110V MPC3000 on 220V+ UK MAINS POWER.

so i will remove that blown fuse, but do i replace it with the same fuse or do i change them to the 250v fuse instead of 125v? also if i do put a 125v fuse in can i use an external transformer with the original cable from usa

dont put a higher fuse in it or it wont stop anything from burning your machine. replace it with all the same kinds of fuzed and get a step down transformer/adapter to convert europe power to american power.

Stick to the FUSE values intended for your machine as outlined in my above detailed power supply information post.

Most likely: "F1" - Mains Territory Designation [C][A] - Value: 1A 125V .

If you are using a 220v to 125v step down transformer externally then yes.

sorry too lazy to read all

but DONT PANIC happened to me aswell wit the 60 and other gear before

you are most likley using a Voltage converter, so just swap them with new fuses.. 110V but i was told that doesnt even matter
the mA value is what matters


REMEMBER in my 60 there were 4 fuses but the 4th was uite hidden so first time i went to the electrician i only were holding 3 working fuses the bad one was the 4th or actualy labeld F1

look for that one, i bet its a bit hidden in the 3k aswell and i bet its burned black obviously like mine was

dont panic your 3k ist most likley fine but dont keep turning it on as it may damage more than
