crackling, static sound coming from 60II

Hey fellas,

Every time I load a floppy of new sounds up on my 60II, it makes a crackling, static sound through my monitors, and the loudest crackle comes when the screen says "normalizing". Any clues to what's causing this? Could the wires from the floppy drive be leaking over into the audio path somehow?

dunno what it is but i sometimes have crackles aswell, mostly when i move the mpc a bit while connected to the mixbus->monitors

most likley some shaking connections, yes, Floppy? i dont think so.

It's not loose connections, it's definitely something within the machine that crackles whenever something is being loaded off of a floppy.

Just a small trick; convert the samples to MCP60-12 bit format in Awave before loading them up in the MPC. Then the machine will skip the converting/normalizing process altogether. Saves plenty of time.

ok it seems our crackles differ in origin than.

i finaly got my gear runnign again and right away had to face the 60 crackles again, they appear in the Monitors evetho the MPC audio outs are NOT connected (only the ASR outs right now) and eventho the ASR VOL / preamp and other stuff on the mixbus prior the monitors is turned down

so it IS the mpc but it is NOT the MPC audiopath somehow (evetho it appears i the monitors)

the crackle appears when i press the mpc lightly or hard from above, pads or not pads
buttons aswell

and with some pads on hold the crackle aswell keeps playing back in the monitors or the duration the pad is pressed... very weird sh!t here

also the noise seems linear like an ultra fast metronome

The plot thickens: It only makes these crackling sounds when I'm loading a disc of programs made with RS-16x. It has to have something with the MPC converting the 16 bit files down to 12 when loading (normalizing). I loaded up a disc of sounds for the MPC 60 3.10 o.s. that Roger Linn has on his website, and this disc made no sound whatsoever when loading.

I know AWAVE can convert 16 bit files down to 12 bit within that program, but it's a PC only program and I'm on a Mac. Any other alternatives?
