Hello,

im new to the site

I just purchased a used mpc 2000xl with a cheap price and there are like 3 or 4 lines on the screen. its still readable but i want replace it. i dont know much about the mpc 2000xl. in other words i am a newbie to mpc.

which materials do i have to buy in order to fix those lines?

do i only have to buy the MPC 2000XL LCD Window or do i have to buy MPC 2000 / MPC 2000XL LCD Screen.

http://www.mpcstuff.com/mpc2000xlstuff.html

thanks in advance.

you will need the whole screen and they have been unavailable for quite some time...ur best bet is to keep an eye on ebay.

Fung45 wrote:^No. Only the Akai screen is compatible. As of right now there is no fix other than replacement.

.... which costs about 300-350 bucks. Total punch in the wallet.

also, if you find one.. make sure it if it is for the 2000XL that it is like that ebay link with the longer ribbon cable or else you will have some fun with a too short cable... the classic stock screen's cable is a few inches shorter i believe. I saw a few screens like that last year, and I even think I read somewhere about some guy who wound up wanting to extent the ribbon.

Looks can be deceiving.
You need to batch both the physical and electrical aspects of your current display.
As mentioned the 2k displays have been MIA for quite some time, which is probably why you got the unit so cheap.

Does anyone know exactly what causes the screens to go bad? is the the ribbon cable or the screen itself or is it a multiple of factors? My guess would be due to age and atmosphere as I have seen some mpc that have heavy usage but good screen and some with little to no usage with bad screens. I think cold weather conditions have the most impact.

I have had a screen that had lines in a cold room which disappeared in warm conditions. so it should be fixable???

1o2 wrote:thanks for your fast reply. but i did some researches and found this one http://www.futurlec.com/LED/BLUE240X64LCD.shtml. this screeen does looks the same as my mpc 2000xl.

does this lcd screen able to fix my problem?

wow. I've givin up searching for the display cause every LCD I found had 248x6x dots.

Do you know how much they want for one?

peace

You found displays with width 248 dots?
I think MPC2000s display is that. Displays what i've found are all 240 dots wide and if someone will make converter for that, the last column (text, numbers etc) on the right side will be lost. (Assuming that no changes has made to the OS. Some kind of "dirty" fix).
