Yep, that's pretty beat up. But I've seen Techs in worse shape that were given new life by people who know what they were doing. You'll be aiight. Go with a day-glow green. lol

Swap out the stock RCA cable for Monster Cable's RCA cable. That's what I did on both of mine. A noticable diffence in sound and being grounded. 8)

Post pics ASAP. And, I will find pics of my brothers candy red 1200s when I find them. I would love to paint mine red but have never found time or a good reason to.

well i decided to paint the outside of the tonearm base a high gloss black..it'll look dope with the chrome arm and silver base..
also purchased some monster cables for the rca outs and a new power cord..
leaving the red out of this one..

this is by far a much harder task than doing an mpc..

im not re-labeling this as it only said "technics sl-1200mk2"

so i ordered oem stickers for it instead...

still letting the primer dry then i'll spray it down and post some pics..

taxman...u should do yours just because you want to!!
oh and find those pics,,id like to see them.

you're a good man for bringing that technics back from the dead... i love my pair of sl1200mk2s, but probably would have never picked one up in that condition... props for resurrecting it.

Are you gonna paint the dots on the platter? because that sounds pretty tricky. Also, you gonna replace the pop up light cause I've been wondering how to do that
