Problem is the protocol which is used between MPCs processor and display's microcontroller.
There is not public information which kind of display microcontroller is used in original display and what is the communication protocol.
In those widely available 240x64 (and many other sizes) display controller is Toshiba T6963 (or at least protocol compatible)
It is possible that Original display is compatible straight away, but what i'm looked control signals from schematic, there is some differences. It is risk to solder different display to the place of original.
But if someone could find out the original protocol, it is not very bad case to make between new display and main board some small microcontroller board, which converts "original" commands to the new display compatible.
