MPC 2500 with S950

I could see how you could say the sound loses something if you sample it back into the mpc, but it's a give and take thing. What you might lose in sound you gain in flexibility and convenience. It sounds fine to me sampling my emax back into my mpc.

I sample it into audacity sometimes, chop it up in recycle and do some tweaks before I sample slice for slice into the s950.

If your gonna resample back into your MPC why not just sample some ol hip hop records that was made on a 950? Because essentially thats what your doing by re-sampling.

You get the 950 (or in my case EMAX) sound plus the benefits of the MPC. You don't magically make the sample cleaner again by sampling it back into the MPC...

Best of both worlds. The trick is to filter, pitch and envelope the sample in the 950 before you sample it back into the MPC. Or if you prefer, you can MIDI up the 950, sequence it from the MPC, and then record each individual track (instead of each individual sample) back into the MPC. Either way, you really should use both MIDI and audio connections between the 950 and the MPC.

Of coarse it doesn't automatically get clean again, but you loose that signature "bump" People who have used the S950/S900 have to understand that. Its not same if you sample it back into your MPC (esp a modern one). To me, its easier to just hook them up via MIDI. An get busy. Thats having the best of both worlds, and its simpler too. I almost think its a waste of a s950 by not using its real audio outs.

So how you suggest me to use my MPC 2000xl with S950?
EDIT: I use S950 because of the 12-bit sound and maybe filter sometimes. No floppys for me please... I have card reader in 2000xl.

He's basically saying track it out straight to your daw to get better sound quality instead of sampling it back to your mpc. I say do you...

What would be the difference sampling into the s900/s950, and then resampling back into an mpc 1000/2500 which samples at 16/44.1, vs sampling into the s900/s950 and tracking straight from the s series into a daw, which records at 16/44.1 and up?

The only difference I could imagine is the quality of your converters going into your daw vs the MPC's, but I really don't hear a difference from the sound coming directly out of the s900 vs the same sound resampled back into the MPC.

that's mostly it, but also different machines sum signals differently (and respond to midi differently and cut off mute-grouped samples differently etc.) so stacking 2-3 samples in the 950 may sound a bit different than sampling each sound back into the mpc and stacking them there. Anyways it's a slight difference IMO (and one method is not necessarily better than the other) so do whtever works for you...

Its really whatever works for yall. Just the more times your are converting a sound. Esp from a low bit rate to a higher one, you will loose some of that thump. I dont even track out to daw, I record my beats directly to CD so Im a bit bias.

Yes? But I won't use computer. Only S950 and MPC2000xl. Resample? S950 as a drum module? What are my choices?

What do you use to record/track out your beats when you're done? Or do you?
