Ensoniq ASR-10 help, for ASRonians.

I've finnaly found a Microtech PCD25b
It works with my mpc's but now i''m trying to get it to work with my ASR10r
Does anyone here know if it works with the ASR and are there special jumper settings that I need to change

Can't seem to get it to work with my ASR.
Got a Nice external casing for it.
Just the Cardreader connected to my ASR.
Booting up from floppy.

FWIW i've only ever heard of 2 people who got the 25 to work

1.) The dude who posted the pics of the 47b. (link'd in mp3's post ^above)

2.) Somebody on the MIDICASE Akai mailing list.

I've got one right here hooked up to my Akai S950. It never worked with the ASR, and I just tried it again...nada

It's plug and play, so it either works it dont, no magic jumper settings - it's SCSI.

Stick with wut works i.e. MCDISK 1 , MCDISK 2 , or the lo-budget jumpoff

Yeah I'm pissed... $10...

U could try an Acard 7720u (scsi to IDE adapter) and an IDE cf. As far as I know that setup isn't hot swappable tho.

Don't need it to be hotswappable.
Just insert one 4 GB card and once a month backup the whole card

Here's a basica question:

Just got my ASR-10 last week, and I'm getting around it pretty good. I owned an X for years so off the bat it was familiar, but I can't figure out how to monitor the input signal???

Mess wDa 2 buttons w/ A+B Source Monitor/Selected & corresponding yellow & red Led's.

A= Left channel , B= Right channel

I'll use Left mono sampling for my ex:

So -> Sample, INPUT SOURCE=LEFT , PICK SAMPLE ISTRUMENT,

Now the yellow Led shud be lit on the A button,

Tap A again, and the red Led lights up.

Now ur monitoring the incoming signal even if u leave the sample page

job, as they say, done.

i finally payed it off and now i have it. i set it up and all. one thing thats annoying is theres a loud buzzing coming from the input, i don't know what it is, it might be the cable that goes from the mixer to it, or the mixer output (probably) but i'll get that fixed.


i recorded a little sample, and put it in a sequence, but how do i delete it without deleting the whole sequence

this mashine is SOOOO good and fast to work with.... i probably wont sample into the mpc 60 anymore at all only if in need of that 12 bit sound

but the ASR is so comfortable


monkey, did you check the Sensitivity pot beside the Input jacks? if its set to max everything may sound buzzing.. i ve mine just to half.... otherwise, yes cabling,grounding,or even changing PSU position in the powering lineup may be the issue


at mp3, probably obvious but just wanted to say that if you run a synth or something through the Inputs for saving an extra channel on the mixer or so, you also need to arm the Input as Duke descibed.... i somehow didnt get that in the beginning
