and mine 2500 and his 5000 lights out after installing the LEDS. Notice the play button lights in their respective colors as well.

Also notice how is appear bright but you can make out the brighter center dot of the LED under the buttons, but on mine you cant. I used flat top leds. he didnt want em(they cost a lil more) and have a super wide viewing angle. 180degrees! the oem joints are 60 degrees.

Just popped in my New LCD Window and reassembled everything so I took some pics.
I didnt do but ONE Red Function Button, and chose to stay with mostly all black everything. So Im sure some cats could look at it and not realize how much actually went into it. I kinda like that.

It definitely doesn't pop like Son's does, but I LOVE my joint. SO thats wuts up.

Here is a album of some pics.

those sidepanels were made by my uncle and me in his little woodshop.
they are made of three pieces of ashwood that are now glued and bolted together as one piece.
feel free to rebuild your own based on that design (which was in turn inspired by the original akai mpc 3000 and some custom ones from forat).
sorry for the dirty pads on the pic, they are now clean again...
