I just got a new MPC2000 XL. It came with the zip drive but I have a problem with that. I owned an MPC2000 about 3 years ago and all of my sounds are on floppy disks. Here is the real problem. The Zip drive that I have on my PC went unused for about 2 years. Now that I need it I have been givin the dreaded "Click Of Death." Is there a way I can just install a floppy drive back into the MPC? I Just spent $1300 on this machine and I don't really want to blow another $75 on a new zip drive. Please help.
Yes, you'll need to basically do the reverse of the zip tutorial on this site. So the cable will need to be converted back to a standard floppy connector and you'll need to plug the floppy data cable into the floppy port. Other than that, it's simple.
Personally, I think you will regret staying with floppies and you should look at transferring your floppy collection to zip or hard drive. You can get second hand zip drives for $40 on Ebay.
