has anybody ever flown with their 500?

Or taken it on a vacation period?

I'm considering it, was wondering if they let you on the plane etc... I'd rather not put it in regular luggage because if it got lost they'd end up having to tazer me cuz I'd get mad beligerent over it lol

I thought it would be cool to work on some shiz at 30,000.

I've taken my 2000XL on international flights. They just make me pull it out of my carry on bag and scan it by itself. No Problems.

I think you should be carefull...the 500 crashes a lot....

Just watch out for turbulence, could knock the batteries out... make sure to save regularly.

Don't forget that it can be obnoxious to hear someone beating on the pads too. With such a cramped/crowded space I'd suggest playing with full levels and not hammering on the pads... nobody wants a 30k beat down.

If your careful and considerate though... you'll have a great time!

It doesn't crash enough for it to be a problem. Once every 4 months if that.

Yeah I figured the batteries would do that, its happened to me before in other spots. I fixed that by gluing some thick foam to the back of the battery compartment door. Works awesome. My pads are worked in enough so I ccan just press on them lightly and I get response, I wont be tappin, thanks for the tips mang

Ive flown wth my 500 before. They just do swab it down to make sure it doesnt have any explosive chemicals on it. As far as anoyying someone by beating on the pads to loud, I dont think Neartao has ever flown on a plane before. lol

I know people get annoyed with the pad tapping though, I annoyed the ish outta my whole office sevral times.. people are too polite and didn't say anything until I was like "I guess that must be pretty annoying isn't it?" lol

pics or it didn't happen? lol... took it with me on a flight to Brazil. Biggest problem was being pretty much away from an outlet to charge for about 24 hours... even with the backlight off it can eat up 24+ batteries in about 16-18 hours. Not sure if there are any limits on the number of batteries you can take now-a-days, but it might set off some kind of red flags to have 50+ spares in your bag. Might be worth checking out first.

Actually I annoyed the heck out of my wife mostly, but she was sitting right beside me and made me sit in the middle. It was kind of hard to get grooving with her head on my shoulder and me all curled up over the MPC. Not sure how my armrest buddy took it. Got mostly the "what is that some kind of computer?" questions... but whatever. Actually this is one of the few times I actually liked the in ear headphones as they really cut out the noise... I just find them fatiguing to wear for a really long time... made the wife wear the crappy sony "DJ" headphones I had at the time.

The bigger hassle was trying to use the laptop... the MPC on your lap is pretty easy to use on a plane... though you might want to adjust the LCD angle screw ahead of time as I doubt they'll let you bring a jeweler's screw driver on the plane.

Sorry Neartao, I can see how it annoyed your wife if she was sleeping on your shoulder. I was trying to say that flying in a plane is so loud I dont see how anyone would mind you beating on some pads.

Now if only we could get audio thru to have a proper flight jam session.

Wow, thats cool that you guys can take the 500 on a plane with you. I remembered being hassled on my trip to Puerto Rico in '96 for making beats with the Roland MS-1. Flight attendant was trying to say that the device may interfere with the plane's navigation system. I was pissed but at 30,000ft I didn't want to blamed if we landed in Antartica. That b!tch was probably lying

As long as you're not running anything wireless (cell phone, wifi, bluetooth, etc...) they typically don't give you a hard time. Yeah though... used to be the time when they said no laptops, gameboys or whatever...

Actually you can run all eletronnic devices now, just not during landings & takeoff....

p.s. they actually offer wireless connections on some flights from what i've heard.
