MPC-1K sample playback is choppy. HELP!!!

First post here with you MPCF, glad to finally join. I've been lurking here quite a bit late nights with my manual in hand learning the ins and outs of my 1k.

This is a problem that the manual does not address though.

I have the jjos 3.08 version on my 1k and have a sample that I chopped, 16 pads, created new program and assigned. Playback of samples from each pad is flawless when just being struck. But when I create a drum pattern and then try and add the samples to the drums, both in playback and recording, the sample will playback choppy, and very stop and go like. Almost as if note on/one shot feature was on.

Is this lack of memory? When I stop it all the sample plays fine. Thanks in advance.

Polyphony in general and poly/mono settings at the program level are recurrent issues.

No le rat? Poly and mono functions are not my problem, I'm educated in this sense. Mode, program, parameters, and then poly or mono as well as assign mute groups.

My problem is when I try to record, its as if the pads the samples are assigned to on bank a become unresponsive while trying to record or play along with kicks and snares from bank b.

It seems that they go berzerk. I can mash on the pad and the sample will play lightly and then the same amount of pressure mashed again gives me a loud sound but cuts out after 2 seconds of a 5 second sample. Sometimes it doesn't even play.

The issue is pad response during recording. When the 1k is stopped I can play the samples just fine. Thanks in advance.

Midi overload.......?

sometimes when you got alot going on midi playback can go a little crazy........

Depending on how you're playing out the sample to you're drum track( what rhythm your playing it to) you might want to change or turn off quantizing.

Timing correct feature is off, I checked that as well. As for the midi overload, how would this be solved if I only have a simple wav sample assigned to 16 pads in bank a and 5 assorted kicks and snares in bank b?

I have 2 and a half more banks of programable pads!!!

How am I going to be maxing out midi with so little happening. No effects, mute groups, nothing fancy.

midi overlaod would have anything to do with whats assigned to your pads, rather what's been/being recorded to the sequence

Anyway to maintain full functionality of all 16 pads with the assigned samples and decrease midi use?? I think if not this defeats the purpose of getting an mpc if I'm limited to my amount of samples!!!!

Sigh.... this can't be the end of the line....

Just a trouble shootin guess on my part, I've seen & had playback get strange in ANY midi based recording when it got (for lack of better description) over loaded... i.e. too many layered notes on one said channel......

Well just tried a diff set like you said and same ole same ole. Can't get a whole clean full played sample out of any pad while the break beat is going... wtf!

I've seen this thing do soooo much more stuff than what I'm maxing out at... ideas??? Could the fact that my superman themed mpc is just..... old???
