Updating MPC 2500 OS to 1.24

I tried to update my MPC to the newest Akai OS...When I copied the file to the card and tried to load the OS by holding down Window, the MPC read Wrong Card...What am I doing wrong?

USB it. Open ur mem card. Make sure u can locate the os file see if there is more than one and keep the more current one

Not to get off subject, but Kustom you got one of the best MPC's I have ever seen...your shit is actually featured on the Forat website...

But back to the matter at hand, I dont understand what you meant by USB it?

are u using the cf that came w/mpc thats wat i had to do my 8 gb gave me same message

I bought my MPC used...I didnt get the card that comes with it...

connect a usb to your computer from your mpc. Hit Mode, pad 2, then press USB. Go to your desktop and view your card

I did that...and followed the directions, I copied the .bin file to the card and turned off the MPC and tried to load from the CF card by holding down Window and when i turn on the MPC it says "Wrong Card !!!" I dont know whats up, I did it with 2 CF cards, same thing...

i'm having this same problem right now, did you ever resolve this issue? i'm about to try a second card but i'm baffled at why this isn't working. i tried usb AND just saving it to CF directly.

nothing is working!

Don't think so, just download it and install, that's what i did. Only issue was 'wrong card' msg when i tried to boot up the new OS. A way round this is to load the OS from the load screen (mode + pad2).

I'm usin the 25 hundy with jj 3.09 free.

found this and similar messages in the forum, so i guess you load the jjos free version like you would load anything else and then format the memory card once it is loaded. don't forget to back up your work if you try this schitzo. i'll keep you posted.

okay so i loaded the .bin file straight off of the mode+pad2 load mode. it warned me it was going to delete the ROM. i said, "cool". however, i crapped my boxers when it finished loading the new OS as the loading percentage stopped at 98%, and i remember reading something on here about this guy leaving his mpc on all night just incase it was broken.

i turned off/on my mpc and it was all good, though

first thing i noticed was the screen resolution wasn't as opaque as original OS, after pressing STOP+turning the data wheel it made it nearly as good. but the loading is faster and chopping is golden, no more entering numeric values for ten minutes a piece!

also another query i had (in another thread) was if my sequences and programs would be screwed after switching operating systems. but i haven't had to format the memory card and saving/loading is fine, all sequence data and program data is there. maybe i'll only have to re-make these after i upgrade to XL. i don't know why i didn't load this on earlier!

you need to format your card I had the same problem!

nah, formatting the card isn't an issue, only if you haven't formatted the card AT ALL and then try to change the operating system. you don't even have to format after you change to free JJOS.

I emailed Akai and they got back to me, they told me that it has to be a 2GB or less card and type II...my cards are 4GB and 16GB so they arent compatible

my cards are 2GB and less, and it still didn't load the operating system in the 'traditional way'. have you tried loading normally?

Seriously I had the same problem with my 4 gig sandisk card but after I did a format on the MPC itself, it worked, I never use the usb function cus I have a extern cardreader and not the usb cable that fits on my mpc..

off topic:

does anyone know if the new Akai OS made sure that ram from different manufacturies dont work anymore?
Cus I bought 2 different ram chips, kingston and transcend and both rams stated : SODIMM ERROR when I turn on my MPC, while many people on this forum stated that the Kingston ram (kvr133x64sc3/256) did work...
Could this be related with me installing the new akai OS? because I first updated my mpc and than tried the new ram..
