I've been considering upgrading to either a MPC 2500, 3000 o

I have an MPC 2000XL and I've been considering upgrading to either a MPC 2500, 3000 or even a 4000. Which one do you guy's think is better.

if it was me and I had the money to burn i'd go for the 4000.

i own a 2500, my friend went from 2000xl to 2500 and thinks it's a nice transition (the 2500 is basically a more powerful 2000xl). however, even considering this i was tempted towards the 4000 before getting the 2500. i couldn't justify the price, and am more than content with my decision, but technically i think the 4000 is a greater machine. i'm judging on what i have read on the net and seen on youtube and such.

all three of these mpc's do the job, don't forget. look at things not on spec, but on how much time they'll save you and how well you can use the machine.

Even though a 2500 + JJOS is a great combination, if presented with these three choices I would go for the 4000.

I think it really depends on what kind of music you make and what other equipment you use w/ your MPC. I had a 4000 for a minute and didn't rally like it. It was a little tedious for me, and I enjoyed using a 60 & my EPS16 more. If you plan on using the keygroup functionality alot and dont have a rack sampler, then yes, definitely the 4000. If you want upgraded features but similar feel to the 2XL, then get a 2500. If you want warmer vintage sound, then get the 3000 w/ 3.5 OS. Whichever you choose, you'll be happy. They are all dope.

I alway wanted a 3000 and I will get one one of these days. But I love the 2500 so if I was to recommend an mp I would say the 2500

I had the same dillema like 9 months ago.
I really like the 3000. Looks nice, the history behind it, it's vintage and as a gearfreak it's almost like a must have collectors item.

But on the other hand I needed something reliable that's strong enough to last another decade.
But the 3000 sounds less digital. That really 90's soul hiphop/ R&B sound, I personally really like.

Then I started to realise that I make beats for today and tomorrow. Emulating the 90's won't get me anywhere. Maybe in my 'own spare time'. I realised that I also do other type of productions besides hiphop. And when I'm working on those kind of projects it's important to work quikly,be able to be very flexible, and that sound in perfect detail doesn't really matter. (all mpc's sound good anyway, but no one would say 'no man, I don't want that beat for my show because it doesn't has that warm mpc 3000 sound)

And I think over ten years the mpc2500/1000 will also be noted for the '00-10' hiphop sound. (when the 2k came out everyone shitted on it's sound, now everybody is claiming how warm and typically vintage hiphop sound they produce)

So I went for the 2500, didn't regret it for a sec and when I have money to burn I'll buy me a 3000 anyway just for the must have.

iF you got the money...Go for the 3000, but good luck finding one for less than $2700 to $3500....they got MPC3000's on Ebay...they had a couple of 4000 MPC's on CL...but the 4000 is a dope machine but if you got the money, I would say 3000
