2000XL CRASH!!??!

whats up, im an assistant engineer and my producer has a 2000xl. We have a ton of zip discs loaded with samples and kits that we have been using for a while now. Recently when i insert some of the discs, my mp will freeze. Sometimes i can make it far enough to choose a kit but most of the time it just freezes as soon as it recognizes the disc. i was wondering if anyone else has a this problem or a similar one. Help...PLEASE!! Thanks

Sorry to resurrect this thread. I just recently had a crash. Would this be the same for hard drives and flash drives. I have both connected and daisy chained. When my 2K went down it seemed to be trying to read the HD. The lights on the HD were lit for read processing. But then again it might have just been on freaking out because communication was dropped with the MPC upon the crash event. Any idea ladies and gents.

if youre using the 2000 classic not xl you probably have a different issue being the scsi fuse if its blown the mpc will freeze up when attempting to access something thru scsi... test different working drives and if none are working its likely the fuse but also keep in mind some drives dont need termintaion or an "i-d" so specific drives will work even if the fuse is blown.. if you find that this is the problem google akai scsi polyswitch fuse its a better replacement for the stock fuse i use one...
