hey guys just wondering if anyone know the conversion from meg. to audio time.. im using a 128mb card for storage and im just wondering how much time in mono i could likely get out of it

The MPC1000 is 16bit/44.1kHz. Just use the units,

seconds = bytes / ( samples/second * bits/sample * bytes/bit)

or

sample time = 128MB / (44100 samples/second * 16bits/sample * 1byte/8bits) seconds

(but the answer is still on page 91)

thanks peeps. i looked in the manual but i couldnt find it till you pointed it out..man thats alot of storage!

Oh, one thing to note is that some of the memory is used by the MPC non-sample stuff (OS, sequences, etc). You'll get less sample time than you would expect with the eqn above.

There's also a rough rule-of-thumb: mono samples will take 5MB/minute, stereo = 10MB/min. So that 16MB does not go very far...
