Hi there,

Tonight I encountered a major problem with my 1 year old mpc2500.
It looks like I can't change the programs (previously loaded) anymore by turning the jogg wheel.
Same thing happens with the Type: it says drum and on turning the jogg wheel ,nothing happens.
Tried the factory reset and reinstalled the latest AKAI OS (1.24).
Problem still stands,

I need some help, real bad...

TIA

Maybe the data wheel is going bad, does it work correctly on any other menu item that's higlighted?
Did you try to reinstall the OS, maybe the os has become corrupt and it's affecting the wheel.

Yeah I did a clean install from the latest AKAI OS (1.24).
The wheel works just fine in the other menu's and what I found out was that if I get in the program-menu (so not on the main screen but via mode/pad7) is that over there I can change the programs.
Still a bummer though not to be able to flick through the programs on the main screen.

Should I return the unit to store to have it fixed you think?

you can start the mpc while pressing and holding the erase key - this will do a factory reset to the unit.
you may have to set some of your personal settings again afterwards.

also try to change the value of the not responding fields with the + and - below the data wheel and see if this works.

I'm having the same issue... Periodic freezing of the TYPE and PROGRAM fields on the GUI. It's not the jogwheel and I've tried using the +/- keys as well. Yesterday it was causing me to shut off the machine each time, but today it's more touch and go, and seems to regain its ability to change the program and type after a minute or after randomly changing other values on the main GUI.

The only way to change the program is to hit WINDOW when PROGRAM is selected and change it from the main SAMPLE/FILTER/PARAMS page...

I have not yet tired a full system restart however...

Anyone determined if this is hard or software?

if your jog wheel works sometimes and not in some screens then you can safely assume it is software based. The Akai OS is woeful imho, and you will have a much more stable and fun time in JJOS free. I wont say that is the solution to all these problems but when I changed to JJOS it was a god send as it was stable and worked.
