I treid it too but never was successful and I gave up after trying and ruin 3 or 4 records. I guess I'll have to try it again. I got an old "Beats, Breaks & Scratches" vinyl thats warped so hopefully I'll fix it this time......

just put the warped record into a very tightly packed box for two weeks. no heat needed, no risk of damage. i've fixed countless records this way.
i guess if you can't wait that long, put it between some flat wood and leave in the sun or some warm place.
