Help with MPC3000LE

i recently bought an MPC3000LE. mine has a floppy drive installed. Well i dont own any floppy but i own a scsi zipdrive. So i turned my mpc off and connected the zip-drive to the scsi port on the back on my mpc. When i turn my mpc on my screen is blank it shows nothing and doesnt even light up. when i disconnect the scsi cable from back of my mpc and turn the mpc back on it lights right up and goes to the main screen and says that its searching for a scsi. What am i doing wrong? this is my first time ever using a scsi zipdrive or connecting something to an mpc. i owned a 2000xl before this with an internal card reader so ive always used CF cards. Please any help would really help me out. I just got this bad ass mpc and am so eager to start making music with it. thanks.....

You can start using it right now!! It turns on, start making hits bro. Don't worry about the zip drive right now, you prob didn't buy one that is compatible. What kind did you by? I read your other post and you seem to think floppy's are like the plague. You bought a dope MPC, you should have expected that its floppy driven. If storage is concerning you that much from making music then you should go back to your 2000XL w/ CF Card Reader. Not trying to be a dik, but when you buy a 3000 or 60, you need to research what your getting into.

i know exactly what i got and its exactly what i want. i just have all my sounds on zips, so im trying to find out exactly how i can get the scsi to acknowledge my drive. i dont know how to transfer my drum kits onto my floppys. 1.44mb doesnt hold much at all.

you need to format/partition the zip first, if it's a 100mb scsi zip you should be good, but you won't be able to use a 2000xl formatted zip to my knowledge

Try:

Spraying some compressed air into the SCSI slot. I had a 3K that was in a roadcase for awhile tight against that foam. The ZIP drive wasn't being recognized, so I theorized maybe some microscopic foam/dust was interfering with the connection- some compressed air did the trick.

One time a SCSI wasn't being recognized and I was like WTF- tried everything- so at last I took the cable and switched it around- the drive end to the MPC end & vice versa- and it worked! Can't put any science behind that but it's the truth so help me Roger Linn.

even if the scsi is not compatible the lcd should work
