note variation slider

hi all.
just a lil question about the note slider

iv recently had2 replace the down cursor button and uponm takin the hood off realised that my slider is wrecked too. i wana replace this part and cannot wait weeks r it to arrive from the states,as i am in uk.#

Does anyone know the full tech spec of the actual part
i know its a slide pot,but dunno the dimensions etc

please help.thanks

Thanks very much Lampdog.helpful as always.#I am sorry if i didnt search correctly mr debauch.lighten up though.
i did search n read alot of posts before asking thee question.i also wanted to catch my local hardware store so posted aswell to save time.

yes Lampdog my man i found exactly what i was looking for. replacement slider is only 2pounds(around 4dollars)from uk cimple spares.
exactly what i wanted -a quick spare so i can do a quick repair.
no over the top part costs or waiting time or international shipping.

when you receive the slider... why dont you take a pic by pic or film the installation so we can see the procedure.

yeah i got some slide pots from hardware store but they have only two metal legs on the end solder points,where mpc slider has 3!il ahve 2 order from cimple.il film or photograph the repair!!i shoulda filmed my cursor tactile button change aswelll to help.i appreciate all the advice 9 get here and would gladly do all i can 2 add to the wealth of helpful information on here

Hi guys.I have ffitted my new note variation slider.and it still don't work.
Am going crazy trying to figure this out,any ideas.I couldnt get a loan of a camera so didnt film the install.

you do know how to work the note variation slider right? you gotta hold shift and push the note variation button... then hit a pad with a sound.

also in your trim window where you see the wave form.. put the cursor to highlight the start or end points of the wave and hold shift and move the slider. I hope it works...

So i tested the note variation slider.It did not work.
not for trimming samples or for note variation.:(
i soldered it in correctly and have not spilled any solder or accidentally combined tracks on the board.solderin aint great but looks fine to my noob eyes.
part was from cimple solutions who are one of the u.k's most reputable reapir centres/spares place.
so lost here.
dunno whwere to go from here?i advertised this for sale and have dropped my askin price to 250GBP

gonna use the proceeds to get another 1k as will be hot swappable with everything from my 500.
i really wanted to restore this 2000 classic and give it a lot of love n affection,new pads etc.
but alas have gone as far as i can it seems.

The NOTE VARIATION Slider, ASSIGN and AFTER keys

The NOTE VARIATION slider can be used in real time to change the
tuning, attack, decay, or filter value for a sound preassigned to a
drum pad by moving the slider while playing the pad.
Here are some examples of uses of NOTE VARIATION slider:

1. The slider can control decay for a hi-hat sound. This would simulate
the action of a drummer's hi-hat pedal, changing the hi-hat
decay time each time the pad is played. By using the decay switch
feature in the program and setting the sound so it switches according
to the decay value, it is possible to simulate a closed hi-hat
gradually opening by moving the slider.

2. The slider can be assigned to tuning for a tom tom sound. By moving
the slider when playing the drum pad assigned to a tom tom
sound, it is possible to change to tom tunings.

3. The slider can control filter value for a sound containing a filter
setting. This will change the sound of each time the note is played,
to play analog synthesizer sample and hold filter effects.
NOTE VARIATION slider data is recorded on a sequence with the
drum notes. For details about the data, please refer to "Step Edit" of
the "Editing Sequences" chapter.

I'm sorry? I have been using mpc's for 4 years and know how to use the function guys.

have been using shift and NV.then when i select the note i wana change it instantly drops to a low low note(no matter where slider is)then simply does not change again after i slide around.....
totally doesnt register my actions.

Try not to give up on it dude. have some time out from it and start again in awhile. you will find time heals itself. :wink:

Nah, I thought you didn't know. I think the slider is not responding correctly cause of the
soldering done.
