Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

hi humans,

this may sound stupid but I will ask it anyway

Until now I liked to record all my stuff live, but now my stuff is getting too complex so I want to record the movement of a knob, let's say, a cut off from my external sampler into the mpc 2k xl sequencer - but I just cannot get it right. - which settings do i have to change to let the mpc listen to the knob movements of my sampler (z8)??

thanx a lot in advance humans!

I think it's moreover a problem of your external gear! Make sure you setup your midi settings (external gear) to a kind like "send all messages" or "send knob movement". Have a closure look at the manual! Then just connect external gears midi out to mpc midi in and hit record and tweak all the knobs you would like to record.

no just a movement of the cut off knob for example.

Any decent midi equipment with tweakable knobs should send out that data either as midi controller numbers or sys ex. The MPC records whatever data is being sent to it. As was already said, you need to make sure you have the external gear set to transmit that data, then record it on an empty track in the MPC.

I've controlled panning, faders & EQ sweeps on a Yamaha digital mixer this way.

If you have one of the EMU modules like the Mo'Phatt or the XL-1 you can record any movements of the multi-funtion knobs..... but again you need to set the module to transmit the data.

ive got a korg ea1. it will only let me seq 1 knob at a time. i cant get my head around nrpn's and there is little info on it out there. i think it users controller #99/#98 & #3 for the cutoff. and like #99/#98 & #4 for the res. but 99/98 have already been used for the cutoff so the res wont seq it just over writes the paramtere, and yes they are on a seperate track.. any1 got experience with korg synths.
