mpc 2000xl os 1.11 or 1.14

what's the differnece between version 1.11 and 1.14? I have version 1.11 on my 2000xl and my friend just gave me a copy of verson 1.14...do i need verson 1.14?

It depends on if you have a floppy or a Zip (OS 1.14) or card reader (OS 1.2) drive installed.
Me personally, I have a card reader and use still OS 1.14C.

I have the zip drive installed but I just got the cf reader......I'm not going to install it til I get a usb to zip drive to back up my projects.....do I need the os 1.14 to install the cf reader?

if it's an atapi (IDE) card reader, you will need to install OS 1.20 before installing the CF reader or else how you gonna install the os it if the reader dont work. 1.20 adds atapi in your drive select screen. before you only had floppy, the scsi numbers, and f-rom.

I'm on 1.14 and have ATAPI in my select screen. 1.20 add support for 1gb cards I believe.
There are no other changes from 1.14 to 1.20.

So if your going to be using your mcd/zip with 1gb cards then use 1.20.

yeah it seems some people are able to run 1.14 with atapi readers... but I have seen some readers that will not work with out 1.2 installed.. for example, those drives and bracket kits sold by... smc? I think that is the forum member's name.

My 6/mcd is atapi, hot swappable, maybe that's the difference, not sure.
I only use 512mb cf Lexar cf though. Never needed to use a bigger cf so I have never tried.
