2000xl 8 out question that hasn't been asked, i've checked..

I've noticed on the older IBM208P boards that had the longer ribbon cable, those had the ferrite beads on them. The newer model boards had the shorter ribbon cable and no ferrite bead.



maybe it will work by adding a bead on the ribbon cable for you or not.

So I got the 8 outs working now but I have come across another issue. I can track all of my samples to separate outputs but I noticed that they are only sending out the left signal through my monitors. I even tried converting all of my sounds to mono and for example had my bass drum go out through only output 1 and not 1/2 (which I assume is so you can track one of your outputs in stereo?) on the mixer screen. I don't have a mixer so I have been using a 1/4 inch to rca cord to test each out put (kick, snare, high hat, samples) and I am only getting signal out of my left monitor.

Any idea on why this may be happening?

that is not a problem. The 8 outs are mono (left channel only). they dont send out a left and a right signal... you need an interface or a mixer to plug each of those channels in and pan them on that. That is not a defect, it is designed that way.

Ive raided many S2000's over the years and modded for the MPC.

It sounds like the cable has been built wrong. Ive done it myself.

Strip it and build it from scratch.


B
