I own a MPC3000 and I have used the MPC 60 a little bit. I am wondering if anyone prefers the MPC 60 to the MPC3000 and why. To me they where very similar except that the 3000 had a few more options, mainly the filtering and stereo sampling. Other than that, if my memory serves me correctly they were just about the same. Is there a sound difference? Just curious.

if you have no other sampler, consider the 3000.

if you specifically want a vintage sound, consider the 60

What he said.

Yup, I recommend the 60 if you are using it just for drums & sequencing & the 3000 if you want to sample more. To me the 60 still sounds better for drums. They knock different then any other MPC. 3000 colors samples very nicley too, but in a higher quality. Like others said, if you only have 1 sampler, the 3000 is the way to go. Check out that 3.50 OS too.

Interesting. I did not know there was a difference in sound. I though they were same in terms of everything except stereo sampling and filters and perphaps sampling time.
So the bit rate is different as well I guess. Thanks for letting me know. I will be holding onto my 3000 but I was just curious as I hear people on here talk of how they would never get rid of their 60.

MPC60 is 12 bit mono, MPC3000 is 16 bit stereo

If you create something(anything), then you realize what you could have done better or improved, then recreate it as the new king then that's what it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3000 is mr.linn's king creation - just my 2 cents lol

What if you had to choose one to add to your setup that already consists of a 1000?

60's can be had for pretty cheap these days...it's tempting

The 3000 is the better workhorse.

I disagree.

Once you learn how the filter on the 3k really works the 60 can't touch it's sound.
The 60 sounds good but the 3k just bangs.

BUT.... sends and returns

Still makes no difference.
The 3k allows you to filter each sound as needed.
How can the send compensate for that?
