If you save say 2 programs in the same directory and both programs contain samples with the same name (ex. kick1 ...) then one of the programs or both programs will end up with corrups data wrong sounds etc...

Always save different projects in different directories.

It shouldn't be an issue with disk space.
When you run out of room on the disk, you should get a disk read error. Pay attention to the MB gauge on the screen.

But, regardless, the cat above me probably answered your question.

Also partion your disk.Where it says part scroll thru and divide your disk into however many sections to keep sounds separated. It can help keep things more organized...Peace.

you should name all of your sample under different names also. cuz sometimes you could overwrite samples if you dont name them..

EXACTLY HOW DO I PARTION THE DISK?

When you go to format the disk(shift and disk).Scroll thru til it shows your scsi drive. On the right at the top it says part.Highlight that and scroll thru,if you notice it decreases in size. You can partion to 10/10,4/25/5/20...etc.(on the 2K)I think it makes folders on the Xl.....Peace.

I agree with the others here, it is probably because you aren't giving every sound a unique name that you are losing them. If you call every kick in every program just "kick" you are going to end up with just one sound called "kick" on your zip & that will be the very last one you saved.

Give each new kick you sample a name that means something to you so you can find it easily. For example:

Sample a kick from a Meters record....call it "Meters kick"......
The kick you are using in a sequence you've called "fat moog bass track" ........call that "fatmoog kick"...
A kick which has a metallic ringing tone....... call that "bell kick".

The names might sound a bit dumb but you aren't likely to use the same name twice & risk overwriting the first version when you save the second.

I use short names, like if it's a 50 cent kick I call it BD50-1, -2 etc.

If it's a little Jon bassline, it'll be BassLJ1.
