System Error HELP!!!

jjos 4.99 but not the full version, which i plan to change once i get this figured out

here is my problem...

i purchased this mpc used off of craigslist. after getting home i put the 4 gig compact flash card in and ran into problems. thanks to people on this forum, i was pointed in the right direction and found some bent/broken pins in the card reader. i then purchased a new card read from an mpc parts website and installed it today.

now, i put the card in and the mpc still wont recognize it. when i try to load anything it says system error. when i try to format the card through usb on my computer, the process never starts... the card also works in my card reader which i can format it in there and i have put sounds on to the card and put it in the mpc 1000... still nothing.

im super frustrated, and i hope someone can help me.

i know the card is good, i know the card reader is good, i have tried diff usb cables, ports, everything... im lost!

i have an outboard card reader, thats the one im referring to when i wrote about being able to format and add sounds to the cf card.

im thinking it has something to do with having jjos 4.99 but not having the full version.

if i hit mode, pad 3, it brings up this message...

"This is ID of OS1"
"Product ID :71E4"
"Password :----"

i don't have a password, i don't have any other options. i really want to load the free version of jjos into this system, but i can't do anything because i can format the card through the mpc 1000. should there be a menu in the mpc giving me the option to format, or should i o it with my computer?

is any of this linking together?

im so confused.

no one can help me?
