MPC and OMS for mac HELP ME PLEEEEASE

Check it, I have an mpc2000xl and simply, like I think others I've read in this forum want to make sure I can create a studio setup in OMS 2.3.8 that is receiving and sending to the AKAI. Then I can take that OMS setup into cubase my idea being to control the MPC by sending MIDI from cubase and then record what I'm making back in as audio. I need OMS coz Im using a midisport 1x1 and at the moment there doesn't seem to be any information going through even though I've now checked the MPC is sending and receiving on every channel. The little leds on the midi interface aren't blinking either as they do when I midi up my other synths with OMS. I'm sure it's not the cables either. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP, I'm sure I'm being really stupid somewhere and it's driving me insane

In trying to sync my mpc to a friends ProTools I had similar problems. I was able to sync it so that it slaved to ProTools and all the led's on the midisport were reacting, but I could never get midi data to record over to ProTools.

When setting up the OMS(which I'm admittedly not familiar with at all since I'd never tried to connect my mpc to a computer before) I could never find a setting for the mpc2000xl. I saw default settings for other midi instruments and even other akai insturments, but nothing for the 2000xl. I ended up setting it up using a default akai setting, but like I said, I was never able to get the midi data to transfer.

I'd be interested in any information anyone could shed on this subject too.
