MPC 2000XL MCD Card Reader Problem

Ok here's a few questions --

I just purchased an Addonics IDE digidrive. I need a molex power cable and an IDE cable to connect the drive to the 2000xl. From what I know the 2000xl has an IDE port not a SCSI port correct? I'd rather just stick with an IDE drive than SCSI.

am I on the right track?
Are the older MPC's less compatible than the new ones?

The MPC2000XL has three internal data ports: SCSI, IDE/ATAPI and floppy. To me, that is one of the coolest features about it. Your Addonics drive will obviously need to be hooked up to the IDE port, so get a short IDE cable and you'll be good but make sure it doesn't have that little block on one of the pins.

I have just brought a flash reader for my mpc 2k xl from mpc and stuff will the 2gb san disk card work for my reader seen them at best buy for 2 for 20 bucks mpc stuff sells the 1 gb for 30

Yeah but only 1GB is recognized by the MPC.

I'm not trying to force a bigger card but even if only 1gb is recognized on a 2gb card for ten bucks a piece that's gonna save me 40 bucks to get 2 of them even if doesn't use the other gig . plus i can't just go to best buy and pick it up and not have to wait for mpc stuff to ship.

No, those combination floppy/card reader drives do not work in the MPC2000XL.

I just want to say that for 189 bucks, the scsiforsamplers card reader cannot be beat! Not only do you get a shitload of storage, but the MPC instantly recognizes the drive and installation was a cinch!
Buy from this guy, you will not be dissapointed.

Thanks. I might try to install a SSD instead then. What type of SSD should I look for?

hey guys I haven't really been on this board in a long long time so bare with me.
I'm thinking it's time to swap my zip drive out of my mpc 2kxl se1 (yes the one with the purple buttons and no it's not ugly I love it! lol)
I have moved onto using NI maschine alot more and while my mpc still gets use i worry about my zips getting screwed by sitting for long periods. so i'm gonna transfer all the files to my mac then get a cf reader in my mpc so i am future proofed.
the things that I've read that worry me are
1) are all the CF readers not hotswappable ? that worries me as I would probably store my drum libraries on a few cf cards and my beats on another card. and if I'm working on a beat and wanna load up other drums then i have to save and turn off? lame.
2) where is the best spot to get the needed cables? i don't wanna modify my current cables incase i wanna revert to zips. (my scsi port on the back is no longer functioning due to bent pins. so i can't use an external zip)
I was hoping to be able to do this upgrade for under $100... $189 seems steep for a $30 cf reader.

189 is not a bad price for a 30 dollar cf reader modified to fit perfectly and read up to 16 gb comfortably in a mpc 2000xl, plus the cables, plus a 16gb cf card. This guy has the hook on what you need. Think of it as a ssd versus a cf, if you properly name your files and folders, you'lle never have to switch it out. Definately worth the investment.
