Computer is not reading my MPC USB port anymore. WTF!!?!!!!

When I go to my computer the MPC drive is not showing up. It just shows up as removable E. I've tried everything 50 times and nothing is working what is going on!?!!?!?!?!

Has it worked in the past for you, or are you just starting to figure things out?

Its worked in the past i've had this thing for months and its done it before but if i restarted the computer and the icon would show up in "My computer" now its not showing up ever.

"Removable E:" there? That's your MPC drive.
You can change the drive letter by going to Disk Management under Computer Management. I'm assuming you have a card in there, right?

Yeah I have a card in there but it wont load in the "Removable E" it says there's not a disk in there even when there is. Normally it shows up as H MPC 1000

"won't load"... does it say "insert a disk"? Then it's not recognizing the card, then do this:
- eject and reload the card
- hit the Safely Remove Hardware" icon in your system tray (bottom right) and eject the device. Detach and Reattach the USB cable, and watch for the drive letter in My Computer.

Then: with the card in, open a command line, type the following, Enter, and cut-and-paste the results here:
CHKDSK E: /R
If it's not E:, use the drive letter it is, of course!

Didnt work, its the H drive not E, E is the memory stick or whatever. I dont know what the hell is wrong with this shit but its really pissing me off.

huh? The problem is after that. You're supposed to be able to go to My Computer and see the H MPC 1000 Folder sitting there to drag samples in. It was working fine then all of a sudden my computer does not recognize it anymore and it doesnt show up.

It's not supposed to be any drive letter other than what you tell it to be. So, if what pops up is not the drive letter you want, then change it like I said a few posts ago. E:, H:, Z:, whatever, run CHKDSK /R on the drive letter that pops up when you hit Mode Load -> USB.

New devices always default to the lowest free drive letter: change it to something higher up (P:, Q:, T: etc.) to avoid confusion when you plug in something you plugged in before.

Also: I get USB device drive letters changing when I use a different USB port, because Windows sees a different raw device number. So I had to make the drive letter change twice because my notebook has 2 USB ports. It's normal, be prepared for that.

And please don't just tell us "it didn't work" - what can we do with that?
Tell us exactly what you did, and exactly what message you got back.

A workaround if you cannot solve this problem (did you try another cf cart?) is a cf-cart-reader hooked to usb. I got a ridicolous cheap one from olympus (was to be used with digital cameras) and now i do not carry around the mpc, i just take the cart out and put it into the reader, a matter of some seconds.

Thanks I cant figure it out i'm going to buy one of those.

Its not the drive letter thats bothering me. Nothing comes up at all its just not reading anything. The Device is not showing up in my computer folder. Everything else works, just not the mpc.

Not showing in My Computer... then you don't have a drive letter at all?
I mean any drive letter? Not just the "wrong" one?
Then it's a basic failure like the USB cable / driver, or even the MPC1000's CF reader. (Or you're not in USB mode.)

Then why were you talking about Drive E: or H: before? Remember what I asked: I don't care about what was working before, I wanted to know what you are seeing now!

I'm not trying to be a hardass about this, but I keep asking for information about what is happening now, you come back saying "what I had was X:, that ain't there anymore", which is not what I was asking and doesn't help solve the problem you have!

Troubleshooting technique starts with knowing where you are, only then can you figure out how to get where you want. Like getting lost on the road: saying "I'm not in LA any more" will do you no good at all: stop and find out where you are...
