Powered Studio monitors,& etc.Help needed finding the best.

BEST BANG FOR MY BUCK!!!

I need help on figuring out what studio monitors would be best for me. I don't want to spend any more than MAYBE $800 for the pair. I am also looking for a fire-wire audio interface for no more than $500 or so. And last but not least, DAW software, and a controller or two.

I currently have two stanton turntables, and a stanton SA-5 mixer, a Korg MS-2000r, and EA-1, Alesis Micron, Boss DR-202, and a Akai MPC 2000xl. Also a old Yamaha Keyboard with midi in and out on it, that could be used as a controller. I have a PC with a dual core AMD 2.6Ghz CPU,2 gig mem, SLI 8800's for VID,150 gig H.D. raptor. I think I've covered all the grounds. OK lets get started. I write Drum and Bass, Trip-Hop, Hip-Hop, and Break beats. But have done it all live for the most part. not really got down to the nitty gritty per say."mastering, editing, recording, etc. etc." I'm currently looking into Ableton but not sure on whether or not to go ahead and get the full 8 or suite 8. I'm thinking of getting rid of some equipment I have, like the EA-1, DR-202, 2000xl, the yamaha keyboard, and my crown CE1000 amp and MTX P15 loud speaker "I forgot to mention the last two." Basically wanting to decrease size and add quality. I've looked into the presonus fire studio project, and focusrite saffire 24 dsp and 40 fire-wire audio interfaces. But i've heard ups and downs for the presonus and not to much on the focusrite. Any ideas,comments,facts,etc.etc. Also Looked into the JBL powered studio monitors JBL LSR2328P and the KRK RP8G2 Rokit G2 Powered 2-Way Active Monitor. Again lost in space. In conclusion, I would like to record on my PC using a couple of analog synths onto a great program possible buying the APC 40 with ableton and a new keyboard controller too. Maybe the MPK25. Perhaps anyone or someone could help in my dilemma. Just looking to setup a great studio without breaking the bank. maybe spending a total of $2500 or so preferably around $1500 or less but willing to go up if things are sweet.

To be honest, I'd go by my instincts, my ears and good judgement. What may sound good to a group of others may not sound good to you.

It's your ears that'll be doing the listening, not the guy who doesn't know what your level of standards are.

One of my boys likes & owns the KRK RP8G2's. On the other hand, another friend of mine went with the Event ASP8's about two years ago. Does that mean that between these two brands/models, this is what I must go with? I doubt it very seriously.

What I will do is take both into consideration and allow them to help me come to a conclusion as to what fits my needs.

Also keep in mind that where ever you're listening to a bunch of different monitors, room acoustics will also play a big part in how they sound.

Thanks for the info, and I agree. I guess my question came out wrong. Im trying to find out info more along the lines of quality of the units. Perhaps brand A has many issues compared to brand B. Or something along those line. Any who I think im going with the KRK for sound, MPK25, and APC 40 for my controllers, Ableton live suite 8, and i'm still lost on what audio interface to go with. I cant go anywhere around here to listen to the product. I'd have to travel 2+hrs to do so. I like the presonus firestudio project, but have heard alot of issues with it. And i've heard nothing about the focusrite saffire 40 or 24.

Thanks for your input, I've heard about them. They are hard to find, right? I think i've decided to go with the KRK rb8g2's. They've inpressed me the most for the price. Now I need to find a good cheap fire-wire audio interface. I'm kinda jumping between the Focusrite Saffire 40 or 24 DSP, and the Presonus Fire Studio Project, or Fire Pod 10x10. But i've heard negative remarks with the Presonus product, and nothing on Focusrite. Any help there? anyone?

you dont want to go with the krk's, i know theyre popular, and they are pretty loud, but as far as frequency response theyre bad, when i was using them i found i was over compensating for the mid-his and his when i listened to it back through another source, also the bass response wasnt to great either so i had to get a sub, which i wanted anyway. If u got about 1300 to spend i recommend the Adam A7, one listen and youll be hooked, theyre completely flat, and have awesome frequency responce all around even without a sub. Theyre the top of the line in near-field right under Genelec. The ns-10's you can get off ebay only problem is u cant check em, but theyre not that hard to come about.

Yeah I wish I had that much to spend on the monitors, But i'll looking to spend around $500..I still got to get a few other items to complete the studio. Audio interface, controllers,DAW software. To mention a few. And I only want to spend around $2500 tops.

if ur on a tight budget go with the m-audio bx5 or bx8 if u want more low end, theyre a lot more accurate than the krks and in the same price range.
