Why don't you try something different. I use Tannoy active reveal monitors. You can grow with these becuase before you know it you will have a full fledge studio. These are studio speakers with amps built in. Try E-bay. You will be happy with the result.

I would go for theAlesis M1 Active Mk2 active studio monitors. They're cheap (between $350 and $400 new price), and I heard nothing but good things about them (even from people working in professional recording studios).

i saw a wu tang interview where rza said sans amps were used to make sounds come out "dirty" or "gritty" he said it was a industry secret..
what is the sans amp exactly?
do you have a link i can look at it with??
i would appreciate it!
thanks.

is an instrument preamp (as opposed to a "speaker" amp which this thread is about).
tech 21 makes them: http://www.tech21nyc.com/index2.htm
I don´t know the exact model RZA uses but I would guess it´s the psa-1 since it´s the most studio model.

I'm using a Kenwood amp from an old rack setup. It's about 15 years old, and shakes walls! I would buy a better one, but I don't really need to.. as long as the beats bang, that's all that matterz. I would still be using the home speakers but luckily I nabbed a set of store display Alesis M2's that are also discontinued. Paid $220 for them, so I can't complain!
