MPC 4000 Sync

Hi guys is it better to use MTC to slave the MPC to Logice 8 or WORDCLOCK? when I use MTC it slaves the MPC in main mode but wont slave it in song mode any ideas? rhanks

thanks....my problem is if use midi clock on the 4k and start the sequence from the begining its fine but if i click to say bar 40 for example the 4k plays back out of sync and out of time, its not my intrface as i have tried it with my 003 and unitor8....thanks for replying..

I use mtc. And I take it you've checked your mtc settings for both logic and mpc?

Yes I have been over both, does yours work in song mode while in MTC?

Yes, no problems here. I have mine set for mode: midi time code, sync in (whatever input yours is set on), Frame Rate: 30

Receive MMC should be off or unchecked. And unless you need to send any kind of sync back out, all of these options should be off.

And send mtc options in Logic should be set at the same frame rate as well.

Every now & then I get a little kick in the butt myself with something not functioning properly or forgetting that I changed an option somewhere.

1. in logic have you got Auto enable external sync checked?

2. Auto detect format of MTC?

3. bar position 111- plays SMPTE 00:00:00:00:00


and on the 4k is your seq start time 00:00:00:00:00 (in the sync menu)

also do you have to manualy dial in the tempo to the 4k to what the master tempo in logic is?

finaly last question (i promise) should i have the 4k set to master tempo? many many thanks

TBH, I can't say what your settings should be like in Logic since I'm not a Logic user, though it sounds like the settings you posted are for incoming mtc sync (which doesn't apply to your case). But I can say that by the settings I use (which happens to be Nuendo) is set to internal sync and the mtc destination box is checked.

Other than that, you should be good with your output sync settings. And as far as the tempo is concerned, that only applies to the 4k being the master sync device, so the "SEQ" option should be the option used under Seq on the main page.
