I'm not sure if this will help but when i got my 500 it was rock solid and never crashed 
. I then updated the OS and memory and it just crashed all the time. 
Straight away i took out the new memory and it crashed again so i asumed it was not the memory. I was all ready to sell it on when i tried to take out the memory again to be sure............. 
Bingo !!!! Rock solid again so it must of been duff memory all along even though it read ok.
The crash i got after the memory was removed must of been just a good old 500 bug!
