You need an audio interface to record anything into your computer basically. Hook the MPC 1K main outs or sdif to audio interface. Your interface connects to the computer USB/Firewire.

Just resample directly into your 1000 and transfer onto your computer as a wav

k dont think i can connect a line in to a soundcard off my laptop.
so if i was to record the whole song to a new sequence then record it. can i just transfer it to the pc as the same way i would when i transfer samples onto the mpc from p.c.?
if so what would be the point of a audio interface?

A nifty piece of new gear!

But one BIG advantage of audio interfaces is higher audio quality. When you resample, you lose some bit depth. Also another huge advantage isMulti-Tracking if you utilize the assignable outs f your MPC

Yes you can record the entire song in your mpc and transfer it to your pc the way you would any other wav, personally I think its a better option than running into your mic jack. But that's just personal opinion, either way an interface is the next step just for quality and ease of use

most interfaces will come with lite verions of software, mainly onl multitrack capabilities. But I would recommend Reaper by Cukos. Great DAW, very capable and very inexpensive.

Pre-sonus makes great interfaces, so does Alesis and M-Audio. What you runnin off of, computer wise?

Ide suggest a good firewire interface, seems like your processor can handle it. And definately Reaper by Cukos. Great daw for the money, check out Pre-Sonus Firestudio series.
