song recording

Each time i try to record a song on my MPC1000, it says i only have 6 seconds of recording time. I deleted all the samples i didnt need off of the mpc to make room in my memory, but it still only says 6 seconds. What i'm trying to do is record the song on my mpc, put it on my computer, and then convert it to and mp3 file. Is it even possible to record a song on your mpc?

6 seconds? Im guessing theres no RAM upgrade? Also have you purged all your unused samples? Not delete but purge

i need to upgrade my RAM. But what is purging and how do i do it.

Purge: Deleting all the samples which are not assigned to any program

Program mode-> f1, f6
