If I remember correctly, OS 2 was supposed to be dropped in spring of 09 and then it came out in like February.

I got a feeling we are gonna get an update between now and april...

That would be nice, but I expect to see the 2500 SE and nothing more in the next few months. I hope I'm wrong...

I thought you gave up on the 5k and went MPD, did you get another 5k?

I did. And now I'm back with the 5k. I gave up on Cubase ever since I found out the Motif XS has its own VST editor.

The MPD is nice, but NOTHING beats a MPC: easy to use and I can get my music ideas down quick without having to bother with the mouse.

I would of gotten the 2.5k but you can get the 5k for cheaper (if your patient enough) and I love the big blue screen...

Mistamixx wrote:Yo diego what is it that makes you like the 5000 over the MV? Is there a big difference in load times?

I never had load issues with the 8000, but on the 8800, the load times was unbearable. Worse than the freezes and crashes on the 5k.

Other than that, the MV is a better machine than any MPC. Way more features than you need... buuuuuuuuuuuut...

THE TIMING SUCKS. You can say its the user. You can say it has higher or equal resolution than the competition, you can say whatever you want,- BUT TO MY EARS, THE TIMING IS OFF DURING PLAYBACK OF A SEQUENCE!

I'll try to find the video, but I remember Mike Vance did a demo at GC with the mv and sonic cell. During his video, the timing went off. Even he noticed it

I agree with you. It's a shame roland jump out of nowhere with a unit to kill the mpc and failed so short with the feel and timing of any half ass sampling drum. What a waste.

Other than the mpc2000, mc303 and the mc505 that's not listed in my signature. I had my share of drum machine and sampling drum machine. I felt comfortable and productive on each unit I owned, but the pad latency on the mv8000 and the slightly off sequence, drive me crazy.

I've never had any timing problems with my MV-8000. Maybe Roland made a bad batch? because everybody isn't having timing issues. I'm thinking about getting a 5000 or 4000 mainly because of the input/output options, and i like the mpc workflow. I wanna keep the MV too! but i might have to sale it if i decide to go back to a mpc. I love my MV, but i miss 4 midi outs!

I haven't experienced any pad latancy, or sequences being off? Again maybe you had a bad one, because my MV-8000 has been rock solid for me!

my mv8000 hat a sucking sequencer timing as well. so clumsy and not tight at all, even not usable for 4/4 music (or maybe you realize it there the most)...

i found the mv a little square in olaying.compared to the s series style sampling it was based on apparently, and say a r8 beatbox.....this was rock solid but not in a good way for me.if i wanted to make metallic industrial music with a pair of hammers, hell yeah..i went from omg,a dream machine to ok i better move this on.in a few days.the quality of the multi traack recording is 100%.so great sample engine fx ect.but all hidden in that HUGE silver box.how about roland sound engine in akai case.yeah

Mistamixx, I like to say congradulation on owning a MV with no pad latency and excellent sequence playback timing. I can tell you are a proud owner.

I don't have hate towards the MV. I still have my MV and there are some things I really like on the mv and quicker way of doing the simple steps, that I wish the mpc had. I just don't get along with the feel of pads and I can't get expired to lay down a track and move forward without second guessing the note timing of the sequence. The more I add to the sequence, It seem something has felled off. So I go back to delete and rearrange my performance to make it tight.

I was thinking on having the mpc control the mv sequence timing thru midi. I just been to lazy to get into it.
