Hey guys, today I just bought my first sampler, the mpc 1000, and at while spending a ridiculous amount of time trying to figure out my problem I came across this site. Mpc forums seems like it has a cool community so I'll probably be on here pretty often from now on. Anyways I'm still trying to work out this problem with my mpc. Right now im trying to adapt it to my recording set up (which is currently the mpc 1000, a firestudio project 8 channel firewire interface, a pair of tannoy monitors, and a mac book running logic 9, there's some other stuff but it's not exactly relevant).

Basically I want to run my mpc through my firestudio so that I can hear the output on my monitors which are connected via the firestudio's main outs. I've tried a lot of different ports on the mpc and firestudio but I can't seem to hear the audio unless it's through my headphones. Is there some driver I need? Because if so I can't find it...

Please help! Thanks in advance

No, I originally started trying to do that but instead i figured that i would just run it through the out puts and transfer the material later. Unfortunately I cant seem to make it go out of the monitors, I am pretty sure I dont have it connected right or syncing right or something along those lines

The problom aint the MPC, its the FireStudio. First off, let me let you know this, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT use channels 1/2 for 1/4 inch stereo. If you got a 1/4 inch to xlr, you can use those, but if you use 1/4 inch audio jacks, youlle fry the AD converters, happeneed to my Firestudio project. 85 dollar fix my man.It iis perfectly safe to run a guitar cable or keyboard cable to them tho, as long as theyre high impedence instrument jacks.
So, the main outs on the Firestudio are routed only for playback, meaning theylle only play whats already recorded. I use a 1/4 inch y cable from the headphones jack out to my monitors. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip man, I actually had never heard that, i've actually been trying that some but im going to stop immediately. I like your head phone jack idea a lot, the problem is i have two independent monitors so would i run the 1/4 inch cable through the firestudio?

Nevermind I just got it working! it was sort of a play off your headphone idea, if anyone has the same issue i currently my mpc hooked up into my firestudio via one of the inputs in the front with the cable coming from the headphone jack of the mpc. Then I followed another tutorial on this form and have connected the mpc to logic via a midi to usb interface. Then i just had to setup a mono track and press record enable and i can now hear all my playing on the mpc and record too!

Once again thanks Tapuno, that made my night

hehehe, yeah I forgot it will play back what you recording if you got record playback enabled hehehe my bad. But yeah, make sure you dont run unbalanced low impedence jacks into those first 2 channels on the firestudio, fried my shit right up.
