Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Be painstakingly accurate at sampling to the bar [always over, never under].
focus on the phrase(the bar), not just the usable parts.
if you're working entirely out of the MPC, don't forget about the buffer and threshold under SAMPLE.

If you have no idea what the f*ck I'm talking about, stop reading now.

F5
remember the Pre-Rec: value
SHIFT+3 and load sample
SHIFT+5
F2
LOOP:OFF > LOOP:ON
F1
PLAY X:ALL > PLAY X:ZONE
St:<--------- convert value in Buffer:<in F5> from ms to samples. If 1ms=44.1 samples, St:=4410 w/ default settings.
OPEN WINDOW adjust if needed
CLOSE
select End:
OPEN WINDOW and set End:
F5
scroll over w/ data knob to LOOP FROM START TO END
CLOSE
select End:
OPEN WINDOW

hold down the pad and listen to the loop, listening for any pops. release pad, adjust End:, repeat.
Stop when it sounds like it's at the tempo of the sampled song without popping.
CLOSE
F4

You're looking at a screen that tells you your BPM at 4 Beats per bar. Adjust the # of beats according to how many bars your sample is.To change the BPM,adjust the value defined in theTune: field. This is pitchshifting. If you save this file, it will save your sound after it has been pitchshifted.

You now know the BPM to the nearest tenth.

You can use it for things less obvious than a drum break too.

LOOP function in trim mode is a MUST for timing your samples perfectly

I loop sometimes, but I never use the loop function. I always find a start of a good sample, assign it to a pad, filter it out a bit, and adjust the tempo so it fits just right in 2 bars. After that, I just trim the excess off the end of the loop, and voila, looped sample with almost pin point accuracy. Also, mono helps alot. But I never bother with the loop function, or even the wave form. I also happen to have a perfectly functioning screen........
Anybody wanna buy my screen? 800 bucks plus shipping. 700 if you got a trade with 2 lines or less

I've used the loop function for manipulating raw sine, sawtooth, triangle waves
created in Sound Forge.

No, I won't do a tutorial, lol.
