Can I use 144-pin PC133 256MB in my MPC1000??

I can get some of that memory. I would like to install 256MB, or better yet, 512MB if possible.

Have any of you guys tried it???

Welcome to the Board.

The answer to your question is yes you can use that type of memory, but you should search the board to find out what has been tested and does work. 256mb will read as 128mb in the MPC 1000. You cannot use a 512mb chip in the MPC 1000.

hmmm so you can use pc ram?! what kind how much can it support? im thinkn just the 128 mb.. i gotta upgrade mine soon so if i can hook up pc ram for cheap all the better!

yep guys..i got a pny(thats the brand) pc133 144 pin in mines and works flawlessy....way cheaper than what akai wants too.

pgm, hey...did you upgrade to 256MB? Also, is all of the 256MB recognized by the MPC1000? Meaning, when you start up the unit does it display 256MB??

I have the 128MB upgrade, but I want to double my memory.

The MPC will only recognize 128mb. Everyone who has 128mb either has an Akai EXM128mb chip or 256mb of 3rd party memory which reads as 128mb on the MPC. By purchasing the 256mb memory, you still save about $50- $60.

It passed all of the memory tests and reads as 128mb. I've been using it now for about 5 months.

so you can go above 128? and have no probs? hmmm i gotta check this out more. im not much of a computer guy so its totally greek to me. thanks for the help i hooked up that link but its all techi gibberish to me

So even though it reads third party memory as 128MB, does it actually utilize 256MB? Or does it simply use JUST 128MB of the 256MB stick?

I'm getting my 2GB CF card tomorrow, and I'd like to maximize the system memory as well.......

hey fellas..no you cant ..if u buy akais 128 chip it will read 128mb...BUT if you buy a PNY 128 it will only read 64 mb so you'd have to buy a 256 card to get the 128mb
