technics rebuild tutorial

i use a solder called deans,lead free 2%silver.

don't reckon my radioshack high tech rosin core solder would do justice like that could it?

^^it actualy should do the job,,just make sure you get the high gauge stuff,,very thin.

Thanks for this, too much knowledge for me right now though. It scares the shit out of me to be honest, but it's much appreciated and is definitely a good reference to have around since I plan on keeping my decks until they're considered ancient relics.

..you should do what lamp said and when its done save it as a pdf..best frigin idea ive heard in a long time..

i got the thick 1 cause it was cheaper

thanks man more to come,,just sorting out the photos.

ok I used what I learned here to upgrade my old belt drive turntable, (I didn't want to screw up my technics right away)

I first took out the auto return function which was pretty useless, then I replaced the Power cable and RCAs and then added a start/stop switch instead of the platter start turning when you move the needle on the record

It works good now, the only problem is I pretty much had to cover all the connections with that weak solder to get them to stay

oh, and the hole for the switch was cut using the exacto knife attachment on the soldering iron





the only thing it needs now is a pitch control (sonseelye, want to help me with that part? )
