Headphone output. Only in mono?

My 2000XL only puts out sound through one headphone from the headphone output.

Can this be change in the software or, is this a hardware problem?

are you sure it's the mpc and not your headphones?

I used the headphones on my Ipod and they worked.

It may serve you better to just invest in a quality pair of headphones. I've heard stories of only certain types of head phones working with ipods and iphones. I think all professional headphones have a 1/4 inch plug anyways as opposed to an 1/8 inch one. If you're a DJ you should have a decent pair of headphones anyways and they're bound to sound better than any headphones you would use for your ipod.

The headphones I used were Sony. I was using an adapter like the one shown.
I'll go to my house and tinker with it to see if I can get it fixed.

make sure it has the 2 rings around the tip like the one shown (stereo adapter) and not just one ring signifying its mono.
