It's probably because OP posted this in the 2000/2000XL section. If it were posted in the "Off Topic" or "MPC Studio Environments" you'd get more people's take on other MPC's.
The only other MPC I've ever messed with is my friends 1000 w/ JJ OS and a 500 I saw in a pawn shop.

Bought my first mpc 500 in August 2007
Sold it and bought a second hand mpc 1000 5 months later.
After a few hick ups I bought a brand new mpc 2500 around a year ago.
Missed the 500 and needed it for a project so got one for dirt cheap second hand this summer.

500 or 1000 gotta go soon, but I hope the 2500 will reign supreme on my desk for another few years.

See what society has done to us!! We cant even enjoy classic love oldies without feeling the need to put a <PAUSE> at the end of our statements... I blame Cam'ron

Had my first 1000 for 2 years, had to sell it, then bought another that I kept for another two years. I recently sold it and used the dough to buy a macbookpro, ableton live 8, mpd18 and uc33e. I miss the workflow but I love the flexibility, portability, etc etc.. That's how I roll now and I like it!
Cheers lads!

2000 Classic - '97-'07 . Then I got a taste of Recycle & Reason and decided to sell it and get a MPK . Bad mistake . Got rid of the MPK within 6 mo.s , got a 3000 but realized I was spoiled by waveform editing, sold that . Had a 1K around the house for a couple months but it felt like a toy so I sold that and got a 2KXL . Was happy w/ that for a while 'til I saw a 2500 on eBay for $700 so I flipped it and now I can honestly say I'm perfectly content . 2 years of complete indecision was worth it, I love my 2500 w/ JJ .

The 2500 sounds a little thinner than the XL but as one of my good friends always says, you can work that out in the mix .
